The summer of 2008 brought many positive changes to AIM BCIT. After much time and thought the board members decided to no longer work with and raise funds for the Dr. Peter Centre. Though a very worthy local charity, AIM needed to refocus and evaluate its future, and unfortunately the Dr. Peter Centre will not be a part of the future of AIM BCIT. Due to poor timing in BCIT student’s schedules we’ve also decided to drop AIM TO AID Golf Tournament. With the golf season only beginning at the end of April, just around the time the Olympic Project is due and many of the second years are very absorbed in their internships and directed studies, the AIM board feels that golf tournament will not receive the time and effort required to pull it off.
So what is going to be the focus for the 2008/2009 AIM BCIT? Networking in our local community, coordinating events, and the students of BCIT! With this we have decided to provide five $1000 achievement awards to one student in each of the Marketing Management Options. This is a way of rewarding those students who go above and beyond the role of an average student.
During the school year AIM BCIT will be coordinating two great events. The first, to take place the first week of December, is the third annual Schmoozapalooza a networking event celebrating BCIT Alumni that is coordinated with BCIT MA. The second event will take place in February, All-In With AIM Poker Fundraiser for BCIT Marketing Student Awards. We are very excited about this poker tournament coordinating it from the ground up. It will be a great networking opportunity with BCIT students, alumni, faculty, and industry professionals.

A belated new year celebration was thrown Friday night at Club 686 as AIM and ACE teamed-up to welcome students back to a new semester at BCIT. The party produced a huge turnout at one of Vancouver's most elite nightclubs.
The party's success was a result of all the hard work that both members from AIM and ACE put forth in coordinating the much anticipated event. In addition, a big thank you goes out to Phil Moi of Backdrop Promotions who provided the exclusive BCIT event.
Fun was had by all!!
industry tour a huge

Wide-eyed and attentive, AIM members were treated to a day in a life of marketing industry professionals. As second-year students acquired some valuable insight and contacts within the industry, AIM was excited to welcome a number of first-year BCIT Marketing students to the 3rd Annual Industry Tour.
Kirk Integrated Marketing Solutions, Metropolitan Fine Printers, and Cossette Communications rounded out the tour's rotation, giving students a strong understanding the Communications industry and its components. Their continued participation in the industry tour and support of AIM is much appreciated, students were grateful for the valuable experience.
Geoffrey Bird, Instructor of BCIT, was an intricate part of organizing and facilitating the tour. His efforts continue to guide the growing success of the event. Companies that are interested in becoming apart of the AIM's industry tour are always welcome.

This coming spring, AIM will host its 5th Annual AIM to AID Charity Golf tournament. The tournament is AIM's biggest event of the year with all proceeds benefiting the Dr. Peter Centre. Last year AIM raised over $5,000 to help the Dr. Peter Centre provide comfort and care to people living with HIV and, with a little help, we plan on contributing even more this year!
An event such as this will be of great benefit to all involved, particularly the Dr. Peter Centre. However, the costs of such and event are beyond the financial means of a non-profit association such as AIM and will require the generosity of companies within the community looking for an opportunity to donate through sponsorship of this worthwhile event.
We ask that your company become such a sponsor. Please contact Lauren Pybus (laurenpybus@gmail.com) or visit the link below to learn more about the many options available to potential sponsors ranging form small donations to full tournament sponsorship. Any contribution that your organization can make is much needed and much appreciated.

Electronic Arts, the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, opened its doors to BCIT AIM members on Wednesday. This much anticipated visit was the first leg of AIM's annual industry tour.
Nestled in the Burnaby's own backyard, this magnificent facility features the latest in technology and design. An interactive playground both inside and out, the EA facility was a 'jaw dropping' experience for students as they learned about everything from the making of their favorite video games to bringing them to market.
A big thank you to Steve from Electronic Arts for facilitating the experience. Students were treated to a presentation followed by an open Q&A session before being toured trough the EA facility. The experience deffinetely opened some eyes and left many students with a strong appreciation for what EA does worldwide from the comfort of Brunaby, BC.
Again a big thanks goes out to Electronic Arts and those for making the tour possible; it was a great start to the new school year and a strong indication of what AIM's industry tour has to offer.
